TECx is the largest online design challenge for students studying Technologies education in Australia.

The world is in crisis beyond Covid-19 and we need every secondary student to help us solve many complex and critical problems that are highlighted by the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

TECx is your opportunity to use the Design Process to tackle one of the following SDGs:

Goal 7: Ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all. More info here

Goal 13: Take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts. More info here

Goal 14: Conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas and marine resources.  More info here

  • Use the TECx student templates to help you work through your design process and create an innovative product, service, environment or combination of these to help address the issues relating to your chosen SDG. (An editable design template doc is available here for teachers who would like to modify the process.)
  • When you have a final design ready, make a short video to show us your proposal (see video info below)
  • Upload your video to YouTube and submit the link to DATTA Australia by email. enquiries@dattaaustralia.com

YouTube video submissions approx. 3 minutes (no longer than 4 minutes)

Should include:

  • Info about chosen UN SDG and why it was selected
  • The design process (research undertaken / concept developed)
  • The proposed solution (product/service/environment or combination)

 

You can use any CAD software or draw your proposed solution and whatever video software you have access to to create your video.

 

Conditions of Entry

For students 13 years and older to comply with You Tube restrictions.

Video Name should include the following:

TECx – U.N. GOAL (number and name) – Your Name/s – Year Level – State (Include TECx as tag on video)

Email should include your Name(s) / Age, UN GOAL (number and name), Project Name and School Name
