“DATTA Australia, the Design and Technology Teachers’ Association of Australia, has recently conducted a national survey of its members regarding the increasing shortage of Technologies Teachers across the country.
The results are alarming and point to a growing crisis in Australian education which will lead to future shortages in key industries such as Engineering and ICT related professions.
It also raises significant concerns over student and teacher safety in these learning environments, with teachers from other disciplines being asked to step into Technologies classrooms without adequate training or experience.
“In our professional and informed opinion, if significant action is not taken as outlined in this report, the Technologies learning area in Australia will be unsustainable by 2025.””
Thank you for taking the time to consider this important issue.
